Where Indian
youth shops
from creators.

01 · Problem

Fashion discovery
is broken.

Indian youth discovers fashion on Instagram and YouTube — but buys on Myntra, Amazon, or brand websites. The gap between discovery and purchase kills conversion.

73%
Discover via creators
Of Gen Z fashion purchases are influenced by social media creators — but no platform closes the loop from content to cart.
25–30%
Brands spend on influencers
Brands pay 25–30% of revenue on influencer marketing with zero attribution, zero performance data, and zero repeat ROI.
₹0
Creator commerce earnings
Creators drive billions in fashion sales but earn nothing from the transaction — only from one-time brand deals with no upside.
5–8×
CAC on performance ads
Small and emerging fashion brands cannot afford Meta/Google CAC. They need organic, trust-driven discovery at scale.

"I see a kurta on a reel, screenshot it, Google the brand, go to their site, find it's out of stock, then forget about it. Why can't I just buy from the reel?"

— 23 year old fashion buyer, Bengaluru
02 · Solution

TrendBag closes
the loop.

One platform where creators curate collections, brands list products, and customers buy — seamlessly. TrendBag is what happens when Instagram Shops meets Myntra, built for India.

🛍️
Creator storefronts
Every creator gets a personal storefront at trendbag.in/@handle — they curate collections from any brand on the platform. Customers shop directly from their favourite creator's page.
Discovery → purchase in one tap
📦
Shopify-connected brands
Brands connect their existing Shopify store via TrendBag Connect — a private connector app. Products, inventory and fulfillment sync automatically. Zero new workflow for brands.
Works with existing Shopify store
💸
Performance creator payouts
Creators earn 3% on every sale from their storefront or affiliate link — paid weekly. Brands can boost creator commission for specific campaigns. Creators earn on results, not reach.
Aligned incentives across the stack
🚚
TrendBag-managed logistics
TrendBag generates shipping labels via Shiprocket, brands just pack and stick. All tracking, returns, and customer communication handled by TrendBag. Brands do zero logistics.
₹69 per shipment, customer pays
03 · Why now

Three tailwinds
converging now.

The infrastructure, behaviour, and regulatory environment have never been better aligned for a creator commerce platform in India.

📱
Creator economy exploding
India has 80M+ content creators. Fashion and lifestyle are the top categories. Monetisation tools are primitive — creators want performance income, not brand deals.
🏪
D2C brands need distribution
5,000+ D2C fashion brands launched post-2020. They have product but can't afford Myntra's 25–30% commission or Meta's rising CAC. They need a performance-first channel.
💳
UPI makes micropayments trivial
Creator commission payouts as small as ₹500/week are now viable at near-zero cost via PhonePe Payouts. This wasn't possible 3 years ago.
🛒
Social commerce is coming
Meta, YouTube and Snapchat are all building native checkout in India. TrendBag positions as the neutral aggregator — creator-owned, brand-agnostic.
⚙️
Shopify ecosystem matures
80,000+ Indian brands on Shopify. TrendBag Connect plugs directly into their existing store — no ERP integration, no new software. Onboarding is one OAuth install.
📦
Logistics commoditised
Shiprocket, Delhivery, and XpressBees make nationwide delivery accessible at ₹60–80 per shipment. Returns infrastructure is now ready. Logistics is no longer a moat.
04 · Market size

A market that
can't be ignored.

Indian fashion e-commerce is one of the fastest-growing verticals globally — and creator commerce is the next unlock layer on top of it.

05 · Business model

Four revenue streams.

TrendBag earns from every transaction — commission, logistics, platform access, and creator payout processing. Each stream compounds with scale.

Act II

Why we can't be
easily caught.

The competitive landscape, the structural moat, and the honest read on who can actually come after this market.

06 · Competitive landscape

Nobody owns the empty quadrant.

Closed-loop social commerce isn't a feature incumbents are missing — it's a business model they can't adopt without breaking themselves. Split the market into two lanes and the real competitive set gets small fast.

Strength

Closed-loop checkout — the structural advantage Wishlink can't copy without rebuilding their economics.

Weakness

Cold-start problem squared — need brands, creators and shoppers simultaneously, from zero.

Opportunity

D2C brand land grab — small/mid Indian D2C brands need a Shopify-native discovery channel now.

Threat

Wishlink launches checkout — $17.5M raised, momentum, and brand relationships already in place.

08 · Moat & risks

Why this compounds — and where it could break.

A moat isn't a feature list, it's structural. Each of these gets stronger the more we execute — and here's the honest read on what could go wrong.

Innovator's dilemma on Wishlink
They can't ship checkout without losing 80% of GMV to Amazon/Flipkart/Myntra. Every direct-integrated brand is one they can't catch with affiliate links.
Intent lock-in on marketplaces
Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon are search-first apps with a search-first user base. Content tabs won't fork intent (see: Meta's Threads).
Catalog compounding
Direct brand integrations are contracts and SDKs, not revocable affiliate links. The catalog compounds instead of churning.
Checkout data flywheel
Owning checkout means owning purchase intent data — Wishlink only sees clicks. Better data → better recs → more GMV → more brands.
WishlinkHigh threat
Can't ship native checkout without cutting ties to the marketplaces that fund 80% of GMV — textbook innovator's dilemma.
Myntra · Flipkart · AmazonLow threat
Fixed "search" mental model — content bolt-ons (Studio, Live, Spark) never moved user behavior.
Instagram · MetaMedium threat
Retreated from commerce since 2023, but a policy reversal on checkout is real platform risk.
Roposo · Trell · MeeshoLow / none
Already stalled on commerce (Roposo, Trell), or chasing a different, price-driven audience entirely (Meesho).
Honest risks

Slower supply acquisition — direct integrations take longer than dropping affiliate links; mitigated by Shopify one-click install and a quality-over-breadth brand target.

Acquisition by a marketplace — Walmart, Reliance or Tata could buy Wishlink or us to short-circuit the build; the goal is to make being acquired a choice, not a forced outcome.

Meta reverses course — if Instagram ships real India checkout, execution speed to category-defining scale matters more than anything else.

09 · Case study

Roposo Clout: rented land.

500 sellers, one supplier, identical listings — then the platform shut overnight and every business vanished. TrendBag is the platform now, so these death vectors are risks we must out-execute, not just watch.

What died
Generic reseller
A storefront, not a brand.
Product
Same speaker / kurti from the same supplier as 200 others
Competes on
Price only — undercut until nobody profits
Platform shut
Business dead — no list, no channel, no backup
What survived
Owned brand
Identity customers follow.
Product
"SoundNest" earbuds · "EthniCraft" slow-fashion kurtis
Competes on
Identity & trust, not price
Platform shut
Moved store elsewhere — zero disruption
→ 01
You're the "rented land" now
Shopify Connect means brands keep their store regardless — clean offboarding makes them more willing to enter.
→ 02
COD + RTO will hit you too
Native checkout means absorbing that exact risk. Model unit economics at 40% RTO before celebrating GMV.
→ 03
Curation is the whole moat
Roposo's open pool collapsed trust. Never go open to chase a GMV metric — that's the day we become Roposo.
→ 04
Don't commoditize creators
Portable @handles, fast weekly payouts, and real analytics — Roposo's resellers were replaceable overnight.
The one-line summary
Roposo Clout failed because it gave sellers a platform but not a brand — and absorbed operational complexity without the margins to survive it. TrendBag is building exactly that model: a real shot, but the same death vector if unit economics aren't nailed first.
10 · The three jobs
The framing principle
Every AI feature serves one of three jobs — acquisition, conversion, or retention. A "rate my look" won't make you check out. A "virtual try-on" won't make you share. We build for the right job, in the right order, against the right funnel metric.
Stage 01 · Acquisition
Viral hooks
Features users share unprompted because they're fun, vain, or social. Engineer for the screenshot, the story, the leaderboard.
METRIC · K-factor > 0.4
Stage 02 · Conversion
Decision removers
Features that reduce friction or doubt at the moment of buying. Engineer for AOV lift and return-rate reduction.
METRIC · Cart-to-purchase +20%
Stage 03 · Retention
Habit builders
Features that pull users back without push spam. Engineer for D30/D60 retention and data lock-in that makes leaving painful.
METRIC · D30 retention > 25%
11 · Product roadmap

18 AI features, one funnel job each.

Every feature ships against acquisition, conversion, retention, or supply — never all at once. The full roadmap at a glance.

12 · AI roadmap

Sequencing, cost, and how we build these.

Ship one focus per phase. Keep the AI bill under control. Never say "AI" in the UI.

Phase 01 · Months 0–3 · Acquisition
Ship one viral hero, then layer the dopamine loop.
Steal Her Style (hero), Rate My Look, Outfit Battle — bring users in via Instagram-shareable moments.
Phase 02 · Months 3–6 · Conversion
Turn eyeballs into orders.
Virtual Try-On, Size Predictor, Pair-It-With — lift cart-to-purchase above 8%, cut returns below 12%.
Phase 03 · Months 6–12 · Retention
Build the habit, build the lock-in.
Wardrobe Analyzer, Outfit Planner, Trending in My City — push D30 retention above 25%.
Parallel · Months 1–12 · Supply
Win the supply side while users come in.
Auto-Tag Products → AI Content Studio → Creator Performance Coach — make TrendBag easier to work with than Wishlink.
~₹11.9L
AI compute bill / month at 100K MAU (month 12) — roughly 6% of GMV, kept in check by caching, rate limits, and premium tiers.
₹15–25L
Total AI build budget across 18 months — nearly every feature is a 1–4 week build on existing APIs (Gemini, Replicate, CLIP), not foundation-model research.
No "AI" in the UI
Users care that it works, not that it's AI. Call features by function — the word belongs in the deck, not the app.
One hero per phase
One polished feature carrying the marketing weight beats three half-baked ones. Focus compounds; sprawl dilutes.
Combination is the moat
Any single AI feature is copyable in a quarter. AI + closed-loop checkout + curated brands together is not.
